Love | Fashion | Birk’ing About

I have been resisting the urge for quite some time. When I first spotted the birks down the runway last September I scoffed and coughed and swore I would never, ever again be seen in a pair.

IMG_5984Like every teenager, I went through the Birkenstock stage when I found myself in South East Asia and the replicas were a plenty. I had a pink pair and loved them even though, unlike the authentic version, they never moulded to my foot and, let’s be honest, were the most uncomfortable shoes I owned.

So I was surprised when I found myself drawn to them again a few months ago.

“You can’t!,” the sensible side of my brain told me.

“But they’re comfortable, good for your feet and in fashion!” begged the shopaholic in me.

I’m loving chucking them on with a pair of printed pants as much as I’m loving them with my boyfriend jeans and striped top.

Some Birk outfit inspos for this lazy Sunday…

Summer, summer, summer! I love thee! I particularly love summer dressing and this year I can’t get enough of lace!
Something about it makes me think of carefree days / gypsy wanderings / hot nights / salty hair and freckled faces.

Spring Racing: Derby Day Inspiration

Are you {like me} in the hunt for a last minute outfit for Derby Day?

I’m hitting the shops today in a massive power-shopping effort. I haven’t had a chance before now, but I’m tipping I can get my entire outfit knocked over in my lunch break. Go on, time me. I love a challenge…

Given I’m very limited for time, I’m hitting up Witchery for some outfit lovin’. Here’s hoping I walk out with my full kit in less than 30 mins!

Here’s some classic black and white inspo in case you’re in the same boat as me…

Witchery black dress – $129.95

Witchery white dress – $129.95

Another option is to go the top/skirt combo which makes for a very versatile, easy to wear again outift. Here are some of my top picks…

Witchery white top – $129.95

I love the structure of this top. The panels take it from plain Jane to something that stands out. Just don’t forget the sunscreen, you don’t want to get tan lines in this baby!

Witchery black skirt – $99.95

A simple, structured black skirt is the way to go. Try different shapes like this fluted number or something more intricate like black lace.

Spring Fashion: Printed Pants

It’s time to get floaty with some beautiful printed pants to ring in the new season. I’m loving the array of harem pants out at the moment and had a hard time choosing which ones I’d be rocking this warmer weather.

You can easily dress them up or down and printed pants can be office appropriate with the addition of a smart silk shirt and cute heels.

I got so excited by the gorgeous prints that are out at the moment that I’ve chosen three that have made it into my Spring/Summer wardrobe this year.

ASOS – Soft floral pant ($44)

Asos blue pants

I’ll be rocking these babies with a white shirt and clogs for work and a silk tank for nights. Love them!

ASOS – Abstract print pants ($38)

ASOS black pantsThese will be my go-to basic pants for summer. The ones I’ll be able to chuck on with a grey t-shirt and thongs for a comfy summer ensemble or rock them with some wedges and a black tank for work. So versatile {and almost PJ / trackie pants in disguise!}.

Cotton On – Stephanie Drapey Pant ($29.95)

cotton on pantsI’m digging these pants for casual days. The blue and white print means they can be jazzed up with basics or popped with a bit of hot pink for colour. I think I’ll be busting these babies out a lot at Falls Festival over NYE.

For those wanting some more printed pant inspiration, here are some more of my faves…

Witchery – Wide Leg Cuff Pant ($129.95)

To help get you through the middle of the week, here are some of beautiful (affordable) fashions for your field…Enjoy!

I’m a lovin’

20120817-082426.jpg

Fridays call for fun things! Things I’m crushing on, recent purchases I am loving and little rays that bring a smile to my face!

This Friday I am a lovin’ my cute new canvas shoes from Target. I had a pair just like them when I was under 10 and rocking overalls. At $8 they are a steal and I’ll be living in them this Spring and Summer.

Happy end of the week lovelies!

Love and sunshine. x
